Keen Jasper Zionic Black Birch

The hiker that stays black on black, down to the stitching

The Jasper starts from the same DNA as the rest of the line: a fast, light hiker built on KEEN's Crag heritage, made for moving quick over unstable ground. The Zionic takes that technical base and drops it into a low, aggressive silhouette, built for the daily agenda more than the north face. The Black Birch colorway plays the opposite hand to Cow Black: all matte black, no print, no hard contrast — just off-white "birch" stitching and pull tabs breaking up the total-black build. A pair made to go anywhere without ever overplaying its hand.

The brushed black suede leather upper takes on tongue-to-toe lacing, running from the toe box to the top of the collar for a locked-in fit along the whole length of the foot. Off-white stitching and a two-tone black/birch webbing heel pull are the only accents breaking up the dark base — plus a small embroidered floral emblem in cream thread on the heel, subtle but identifiable. The tongue lining runs a grey/black/off-white camo print, visible only when the shoe's laced open. Underneath, a rubber outsole with multi-directional lugs stands out in gum/olive against the rest of the colorway, KEEN branding stamped at the forefoot. Lining: breathable mesh, with a "Consciously Created" tag on the sockliner.

The Contoured Fit follows the shape of the foot for a snug hold with no pressure points, while tongue-to-toe lacing lets you dial in the fit along the whole length of the upper. The removable resilient foam insole builds in arch support for cushioning that holds up over time, and a stability shank adds lateral support without weighing down the build. The 4mm multi-directional lugs, in high-traction rubber, grip wet pavement as well as broken ground. The premium leather comes from an LWG-certified tannery, a standard that limits the production's impact on water, and the Eco Anti-Odour treatment, pesticide-free, handles odor without harsh chemistry.
