William Sharp began taking surf photos in southern California in the early 1970s. In 1975, he was hired as a photographer for Skateboard World magazine. Over the next five years, he documented the meteoric rise of the movement, capturing thousands of photos along the way.

Back in the Day presents hundreds of Sharp's amazing photos of that time, the vast majority of which have never been seen before. Sharp's epic photos are populated by the avant-garde of the scene such as Tony Alf, Jay Adams, Jerry Valdez, Steve Caballero and Jay Smith, among many others.
