The 306: Jamie Foy's First Pro Model at Numeric

Jamie Foy gets his first pro model at New Balance Numeric, and the 306 isn't trying to reinvent the skate shoe. It starts from the classic vulcanized build and fixes what gives out first: rubber underlays, mesh panels, a low-profile sole. Three construction calls, all dictated by the session. His name sits on the tongue under the NB# logo, with the number 306 in a box.

Dark Moss: a deep green running across the whole upper. Suede on the toe, sidewalls and heel, green mesh panels on the quarter and collar. The big cream N, topstitched in white, is the only hard contrast. Black piping outlines every cut, and that's where you see the rubber layer showing under the suede. Black laces with light flecks, black eyelets, a mesh tongue with the Jamie Foy 306 label, then an all-black sole with a green N-durance patch at the heel. The upper pairs suede with mesh, and contains cow leather.

Your foot stays low, right next to the board: the vulcanized sole runs a low profile, and that's what delivers the boardfeel, the grip under the sole, the kickers you feel go by. Under the suede, the visible rubber layer extends the life of the upper. The mesh panels lighten the top and make the ride more comfortable, and the Abzorb insole rounds out the package. Underfoot, tight herringbone tread bites into griptape. Before your first session, a protector spray on the dark suede holds off stains.
