The 2000s running archive recompiled in full black, Y3K format

The GEL-KINETIC 2.0 doesn't pull from one silhouette, it recompiles several. The synthetic leather overlays typical of 2000s running shoes come back here molded in PU, a process that changes the material without touching the original line work. The result borrows from both the GEL-KINETIC and the GEL-FRANTIC, two technical references in the ASICS catalog, for a hybrid object that isn't chasing nostalgia but pure recompilation, projected into the futuristic design register the brand itself calls Y3K. In Black Black, this archive loses all color and keeps only the structure.

The full blackout wipes out any hierarchy between upper and sole: only the material play makes the difference. The technical mesh on the shoe's body contrasts against the glossy molded PU overlays, which repeat the X-pattern signature of the GEL-KINETIC across the forefoot. The CLUTCH COUNTER at the heel, also in glossy PU, closes out the build with an almost cage-like structure, visible and unapologetic, cutting against the matte mesh covering the rest of the upper. Underfoot, the TRUSSTIC sole in translucent TPU still hints at its own internal cells even drowned in black, a detail that rewards a closer look.

The Scutoid GEL capsules, placed directly underfoot, are built on foot pressure test data collected with the ASICS Institute of Sport Science: their reconstructed shape deforms more easily and spreads ground reaction force for maximum comfort on every step. The FF BLAST PLUS midsole foam delivers plush cushioning and a dynamic feel, encapsulated in the TRUSSTIC TPU structure that guarantees shock absorption, stability and support. The CLUTCH COUNTER improves the fit and locks down the heel without ever compressing. A technical base built for running, redeployed here to take on pavement every day.
