Spotted at a Virginia Beach contest by Lance Mountain, a young Mike Vallely got the call to join the Powell Peralta team and fast became one of street skating's defining names. After turning down the Roach graphic he was first offered, he worked directly with illustrator Vernon Courtlandt Johnson to build a signature graphic instead: a hard-staring elephant pulled straight out of a psychedelic jungle. First released back in 1988, that artwork became one of the most recognisable decks in the Powell Peralta catalogue. This Pink colourway runs the same herringbone, palm-leaf pattern and drenches the elephant head in electric pink, sitting somewhere between old-school nostalgia and a genuinely current graphic hit.
