Just a Signature, and That’s Enough

Parra starts with a hand. Behind the name is Pieter Janssen, the Amsterdam artist and illustrator known for his sharp-beaked birds, odd characters and flat blocks of bold colour that have travelled far beyond the Netherlands. His cursive handwriting, drawn in a single stroke, became the brand’s logo. On the Signature Tee, Parra sets aside the graphic loudness it’s known for and keeps only the essential: that signature, embroidered tonal on the chest, almost melting into the sand cotton. A deliberately quiet piece, for people who recognise a brand by a detail rather than an oversized print.

The jersey comes in at 240 gsm, well above standard tees that usually sit around 150 to 180 gsm. The result: a dense, opaque fabric that hangs straight instead of clinging. The fit is relaxed with slightly dropped shoulders and wide sleeves, roomy but controlled. The thick ribbed collar features tonal stitching, as do the sleeve and body hems, for a clean finish with no unnecessary contrast. A black woven neck label, raised embroidery you can feel under your fingers, and production in Portugal, home to some of Europe’s most respected jersey makers.

The cotton is pre-washed before construction, which takes shrinkage out of the equation: the size you get is the size you keep, wash after wash. The treatment also softens the fabric, so it feels good from the first wear. At this weight, the tee won’t twist at the side seams and the collar won’t stretch out after a few weeks, two classic flaws of lightweight tees. The cotton breathes in summer and works as a solid base layer once the temperature drops, under an open shirt or a jacket.
