Every skater has a particular relationship with barbed wire: it's what separates the spot from the rest of the world, the line you follow to sneak into an empty lot or a ledge you're not supposed to touch. Opera takes that ultra-urban symbol — the fence, the barrier, the "keep out" — and molds it straight into the deck rail. The result doesn't play it safe: twisted wire, sharp points, a faithful recreation of the pattern down to the details, cast in a matte grey that reads more iron than plastic. How to fit your rails to your skateboard?

Fitting rails to a skateboard isn’t at all complicated; they come with a set of self-tapping wood screws. All you need is a simple screwdriver and your own two hands – this will be more precise than using a power drill and, above all, it will prevent you from stripping the screw threads and needlessly damaging your board.  Simply position your rails under your skateboard, centred between the two trucks and about 2 or 3 cm from the edge. All you need to do is screw them in, following this advice: don’t screw the first screw in all the way; instead, start by starting to screw in all the screws – screw the first one in a little, then the next one a little… go back to the first one, tighten it a little more, then move on to the next one… until all the screws are securely tightened. But above all, don’t use too much force – this could damage the screw threads and the screw would end up spinning freely!

A handy tip to make fitting easier is to secure the rails in place with some tape, which you can easily remove afterwards.
