To mark 60 years since Jimi Hendrix first plugged into a Marshall amp, the British brand unveils a collector's edition of its Acton III speaker. Wrapped in crushed purple velvet instead of the usual faux leather, it swaps the signature brass accents for silver finishes — a direct nod to Hendrix's love of silver and turquoise jewellery.

An all-seeing eye is stamped in silver on the side of the cabinet, symbolising the clarity and vision drawn from the mystical imagery that ran through the guitarist's work. Switch the speaker on and you'll hear, as a startup sound, a rare instrumental version of "Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)" taken from The Jimi Hendrix Experience deluxe box set — every Bluetooth connection also triggers a Hendrix sound cue.

On the technical side, nothing changes from the standard Acton III: outward-angled tweeters and updated waveguides deliver sound wide enough to fill the room, with clear highs and deep lows perfect for Hendrix tracks as much as the rest of your playlist. Amp-inspired knobs in custom silver let you adjust bass and treble on the fly.
