The Jasper draws on KEEN's Crags heritage: a fast, lightweight build made for scrambling on rock. The Zionic takes that technical base and reformats it for the street — a massive lugged outsole, a low, aggressive silhouette closer to a runner than a classic hiking shoe. The Cow Black colorway pushes it further: a black-and-off-white cow print leather upper set on an all-black base, taking a hardcore outdoor code and dropping it straight into the city.

The upper mixes hair-on cow print leather with matte black leather overlays at the toe and heel, reinforced to take on street-level impact. Speed-lacing runs the full length of the shoe, held by black-and-white houndstooth laces that cut against the animal print. A heel pull tab makes it easy to step in, matching the raw feel of the rest of the build. Underneath, a sculpted black midsole with side vents carries an outsole with deep oval lugs — the KEEN logo stamped into the rubber, a "Consciously Created" tag showing on the sockliner. A colorway built as a standalone piece, not another mass reissue.

Under the outdoor look, the Jasper Zionic stays a technical shoe: 272 grams claimed, light for a lugged pair of this build. The Eco Anti-Odor treatment, pesticide-free, handles odor control long-term without harsh chemistry. The upper carries a stability shaft that frames the foot without squeezing it — useful on uneven pavement as much as on longer walks. The premium leather comes from an LWG-certified tannery, a standard that limits the production's impact on water — a detail that matters to a crowd that checks sourcing as closely as fit.
