Corduroy knees cut like mountain peaks: workwear takes the alpine route

The carpenter pant comes straight from early 20th century American job sites: heavy canvas, a hammer loop, a tool pocket, all built for woodworkers. The MXE collab takes this workwear classic and adds its own signature. The corduroy knee panels end in a sawtooth edge, like a ridgeline cut into the fabric, a direct nod to Millet's alpine world. The same corduroy covers the back pockets, tool pocket and hammer loop, playing on texture contrast rather than colour contrast. On the right back pocket, the blue and red Millet x Element woven patch shows where the piece comes from, in line with the rest of the collection.

The Big Fit is properly roomy: low crotch, wide leg from top to bottom, with a straight drape that stacks slightly over your shoes. For reference, the inseam measures 75 cm, the knee 29 cm and the leg opening 24 cm. The main fabric is a 410 g/m² canvas, made of 70% cotton and 30% GRS-certified recycled cotton, a heavyweight that gives the pant real structure without feeling stiff. The heavy wash on the Truffle colourway, a slightly mottled greyish brown, gives it a broken-in look from day one, like a well-worn pair of work pants. Zip fly, metal shank button, fixed waistband lined in corduroy and a clamp logo label at the front round out a clean build.

The heavy canvas takes abrasion in its stride, and the corduroy panels double up the fabric where it takes the most punishment: at the knees when you crouch, sit on a step or move around a lot. The factory heavy wash softens the canvas, which will keep fading and developing character over time without losing its shape. For storage, the side pockets hide small coin pockets, and the tool pocket on the thigh easily fits a phone or wallet. The wide leg lets air move and never restricts you, whether you're on foot, on a bike or on your feet all day.
