Polar Skate Co. takes the Russian ushanka silhouette — that puffed-up trapper hat with continuous ear flaps and a folded peak — and redirects it toward a fully urban use rather than a military or outdoor one. The matte black and the embroidered Script logo up front, the brand's signature handwritten mark, root the piece in the skate wardrobe rather than a generic outdoor aisle. The folded front flap peak and the drawstring adjustment system with cord stoppers borrow the codes of technical winter gear, while the continuous neck panel with buckle fastening closes the whole thing into a compact, graphic silhouette, far from a basic beanie. A trapper hat that owns its bulk instead of playing it down.

On the material side, the Ailu cuts zero corners on the fill. The shiny ripstop polyester exterior, with a TPU 7000/7000 treatment and a 1500 PU water-repellent coating, shrugs off light rain and friction without ever breaking down. The 90% goose down / 10% feather fill, with a 600 fill power, gives the hat that signature puffed-up volume while staying surprisingly light on the head. The tricot microfleece lining at 140 gsm rounds out a build made for real cold rather than looks alone. An oversized winter hat that gives every layer as much thought as a real technical piece.

Day to day, it's the comfort that makes the difference. The metal eyelets, the elastic cord with a plastic stopper, and the woven webbing with plastic buckles adjust the fit around the face and under the chin without ever cinching too tight.
